I earned my Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1996, and that same year, I joined the University of Isfahan in Iran as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry. By 2007, I had advanced to the rank of full Professor. Over the years, I have taught a wide range of chemistry courses. My initial draw to academia was the opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on the lives of young people through teaching and mentoring. As an educator, my success is accurately measured by my students' achievements.
My life outside academia is enriched by my deep love for nature. I find solace and inspiration in the great outdoors, and my favorite pastimes include mountain climbing and hiking. These activities not only provide a welcome break from the rigors of academic life but also fuel my creativity and passion for learning.

I received a BS degree in chemistry from Stockton State College (now Stockton University) in NJ and a MS in chemistry from Cornell University. After graduate school, I earned a 6-12 grade comprehensive science teaching credential and spent 1 year teaching high school chemistry and physics in the town where both Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi lived (if you are from NJ or over 40, you probably know these names!). I then moved on to a teaching position at Orange County Community College in upstate NY where I was able to teach Organic Chemistry (my real passion) before moving to the Bay Area where I was fortunate to find a position at Chabot College. I am a founding contributor to our MESA-TRIO STEM Program where I served as the Program Director for several years and continue to work with the grant as the faculty liaison.

I attended The Ohio State University where I received my B.S. in chemistry, then I came to UC Berkeley to get my Ph.D. in physical chemistry. I spent many of those years working in dark basements with fancy lasers, so you can always get me distracted by talking about that.
I've taught introductory and general chemistry at half a dozen community colleges in the Bay Area since 2012.
